Romulan Star Empire

The Romulan Star Empire (or simply, Romulan Empire) is a major galactic regional power, encompassing the Romulan people and their subject worlds and species. The Empire is known for its xenophobic character and policies of extreme secrecy and territorial protectionism and expansion. The Romulan Star Empire is traditionally ruled by an Emperor, though in reality the Empire is ruled by the Praetor and the Romulan Senate.

The Romulans are an offshoot of the Vulcan race. The ancient Romulans did not agree with Surak's teachings and were persecuted and rounded up into camps for having a different belief. These dissidents felt that logic was a way to control and suppress what it was to be true Vulcan that their passion was their power and so with the help of the Vulcan underground they were liberated and escaped Vulcan. Setting forth in early warp capable ships, these dissidents named their race the Romulans "those who march beneath the Raptor's wings" and eventually settled on the twin planets later named Romulus and Remus. Shortly thereafter, they founded the aggressive Romulan Star Empire, determined to never be controlled or oppressed again.

The Romulan Star Empire shares it's boarders with the United Federation of Planets, Klingon Empire and Gorn Hegemony.

The Romulans are a passionate and cunning species and so build their ships the same way. The Imperial Fleet is the sole military arm of their Empire. Romulan ships are quick and fast, and thanks to the invention of the cloaking device have been able to use cloak and dagger tactics against their foes.

Due to their recent brief alliance with the Klingon Empire, the Romulan Star Empire have been able to advanced their technology, gaining powerful matter-antimatter reactors to power their warp drives, which previously used old fusion reactors which weren't efficient leaving the Empire at a major disadvantage. Many modern Romulan designs have incorporated many Klingon technologies they gained from the same technology exchange alliance.

Currently it is unknown where the Romulans have deployed their fleets due to the cloaking device which is much more sophisticated that the early models they gave to the Klingon Empire. Rumours indicate that there are mass fleet movements within in their space but intelligence reports is sketchy at best.
