Klingon Empire

The Klingon Empire (also sometimes referred to as the Imperial Klingon Empire) is the official state of the Klingon people, founded approximately 1,400 years ago by Kahless the Unforgettable, who first united the Klingon homeworld of Qo'noS (pronounced Kronos). The Klingons are a proud warrior species, who have a highly evolved sense of honour.

Qo'Nos was invaded in the 14th century by an alien species known as the Hur'Q. The Klingons fought back, repelling the Hur'Q and capturing many of their ships. Backward engineering the Hur'Q technology the Klingon's were able to go to the stars and expand its sphere of influence by conquering numerous systems and incorporating them into the Empire.

Officially, the Klingon Empire is a feudal monarchy, with power residing in the Emperor, who is traditionally a descendant of Kahless. In reality, however, the power lies with the Klingon High Council, which is led by the Chancellor. The position of Emperor was abandoned (but not officially abolished) in the mid-21st century. The Chancellor despite being the ruler of the Klingon Empire has to get support from at least the majority the Klingon High Council who represent the various high ranking Klingon houses for various critical decisions such as going to war.

The Klingon Empire shares boarders with the United Federation of Planets, Romulan Star Empire, Tholian Assembly and Kzinti Patriarchy.

The Klingon Defence Force is the main military arm of the Empire. The Klingon Defence Force operates the majority of Klingon vessels however much of the Klingon fleet is made up of vessels belonging to the various Klingon houses. Klingon warships are design for combat, and Klingons are renowned for using ships far past their service life, often refitting a design and vessel dozens of times. In recent years this had become a major strength, especially after the destruction of Praxis.

With the peace treaty with the Federation, the bulk of the Klingon forces have been re-deployed from the Federation boarder and placed along the Romulan and Kzinti boarders to booster their defences.
